Today, we are delighted to announce that Daniel Akinmade Emejulu, who recently served as Program Manager for United Nations Affairs at Microsoft, has been appointed as Chair of the Equiano Institute's Advisory Board.

Daniel's extensive experience in international relations, sustainable development, and emerging technology policy will play a crucial role as the Equiano Institute expands its influence in shaping AI governance frameworks across Africa and beyond.

Daniel's deep expertise in building partnerships with UN agencies and his work on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will be particularly valuable as we develop inclusive AI policies that address the unique challenges and opportunities in African contexts.

Daniel will work closely with other advisors, including Chinasa T. Okolo, Ph.D., our Ethics Advisor at the Equiano Institute, steering safe and trustworthy AI in Africa. Additionally, Chinasa serves as a Consulting Expert with the African Union, and Fellow at Brookings Institute. Tom Westgarth is our advisor on AI technology and Policy, he is a senior public policy expert specialising in AI and science policy at the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change. Daniel's appointment strengthens the Institute's capacity to engage with international bodies such as the United Nations and EU on matters of AI governance.
